The film, which was released on April 12, 2012, received generally negative reviews from critics.

Movies Like LOL (2012) – watch teen romantic comedies genre:

1. Easy A  (2010) IMDb: 7.7/10 Metascore: 76/100

Easy A is a 2010 American teen comedy-drama film directed by Will Gluck, written by Bert V. Royal, and starring Emma Stone. The film tells the story of Olive Penderghast (Stone), a high school student who starts to spread rumors about herself being a sexually promiscuous person after she loses her virginity to a college guy. As more and more people start to believe her, Olive finds herself in an ever-growing web of lies.

While Easy A isn’t as good as LOL, both movies are about a high school student that deals with rumors and lies that are spread about them. Easy A is funnier than LOL, but I definitely recommend watching both movies if you’re into this genre.

2. Juno  (2007) IMDb: 7.7/10 Metascore: 82/100

Juno is a 2007 American comedy-drama film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Ellen Page stars as the title character, an independent-minded teenager confronting an unplanned pregnancy and the subsequent events that put pressures of adult life onto her.

While Juno isn’t your typical teen movie (the genre only has comedies), it’s definitely worth watching. It has a lot of humor in it but also tackles big issues like teenage pregnancy.

3. The DUFF  (2015) IMDb: 6.4/10 Metascore: 58/100

The Duff is a 2015 American romantic comedy film directed by Ari Sandel and written by Josh A. Cagan and Ike Barinholtz. The film is about a high school senior who discovers that she has been labeled the “designated ugly fat friend” (DUFF) to her prettier, more popular friends.

It has a pretty cute love story in it and The DUFF might be worth watching if you’re into this genre.

The film stars Jonah Hill and Michael Cera as Seth and Evan, two teenagers about to graduate high school. Before graduating, the boys want to go to a party and lose their virginity which prompts them to try selling drugs to buy alcohol.

Superbad is a genius movie and it has definitely made its place as one of the best teen comedies ever. While LOL is more of a typical high school comedy, Superbad manages to make you laugh, cry and even think about important issues, which makes it totally worth watching!

5. Saved!  (2004) IMDb: 6.4/10 Metascore: 67/100

Saved! is a 2004 American teen comedy-drama film written by Brian Dannelly and Michael Urban, directed by Dannelly, and starring Jena Malone, Mandy Moore, Macaulay Culkin, Patrick Fugit, Eva Amurri, Martin Donovan, and Mary-Louise Parker.

It has pretty much nothing to do with LOL, but it’s definitely worth watching. Saved! is very different from LOL and deals with big issues like teen pregnancy and religion in a funny way. It also has some pretty dark humor in it so if you’re not into that I suggest you skip this one.

6. Adventureland  (2009) IMDb: 7.1/10 Metascore: 77/100

Adventureland is a 2009 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Greg Mottola, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, and Martin Starr. It was the first major release by Miramax Films since Who’s That Girl (1987). The plot concerns James, a college graduate who spends his summer working at an amusement park in order to save money for future education.

While Adventureland might not be one of the best teen movies out there, it’s definitely worth watching if you’re into comedies with a little bit of drama in them. It has some really funny parts and the actors did fantastic jobs making us really feel for their characters.

She’s the Man is a 2006 American romantic comedy sports film directed by Andy Fickman and starring Amanda Bynes, Channing Tatum, Laura Ramsey, and James Kirk. The screenplay was written by Ewan Leslie and Timothy Dowling.

She’s the Man isn’t your typical teen comedy; it deals with gender roles, homosexuality and is focused more on drama than humor (BUT DON’T WORRY there are still some very funny parts in the movie). If you like this genre, then this movie is definitely worth watching – I promise you won’t be disappointed!

8. 17 Again  (2009) IMDb: 6.5/10 Metascore: 56/100

17 Again is a 2009 American comedy film directed by Burr Steers. The film follows 37-year-old Mike who becomes a 17-year-old boy after a chance accident. It is adapted from the 1987 book Senior Year but had been originally conceived as an unrelated script called 17 Again about a 35-year old man who reverts to his teenage body and has to relive his high school life.

It’s pretty much like Big (the 1988 film) with some teen comedy elements thrown in the mix. If you like this kind of genre, then I definitely think 17 Again is worth watching! It might not be one of the best teen comedies out there, but it’s still very enjoyable and funny 🙂

Wilson, and Lea Thompson. The film follows Marty McFly, a teenager who is accidentally sent back in time from 1985 to 1955.

Back to the Future definitely needs no introduction; you’ve probably already seen it and if not: WATCH IT ASAP! I promise you won’t regret it 🙂

11. American pie  (1999) IMDb: 6.9/10 Metascore: 65/100

It is the first installment in the American Pie theatrical series. The film was a box-office hit and spawned three direct sequels: American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and in international release American Reunion (2012).

American Pie is definitely one of the best teen comedies out there! It’s hilarious, light-hearted, and just very entertaining to watch. It is the legend if I must say it.
